NPR is More Than Just Radio

National Public Radio (NPR) is more than just a radio station to me. It’s therapy. There’s something about listening to it that makes me happy. Whether it’s listening to it in the car or online in my office or home computer. I just love it. In an age where news media outlets are being called out for being politically biased and profit-driven, I felt the urge to find a news outlet that can be considered “trusted”.

I’m aware of their political tendencies. However, much of what I hear from them definitely leans toward the political left, more or less. However, with many news outlets, listeners/viewers should always think critically about what they hear and actively engage in the discussion mentally instead of believing everything they hear.

This brings me to another point. NPR’s podcast and discussions are very thought-provoking. If you ever get the chance to browse through the various podcasts and programs on their website, there’s literally something for everybody. Another great thing is that their website offers a five-minute newscast that is updated continuously and summarizes the most current events into a quick five-minute clip.

There’s something about NPR that I have yet to find in other news outlets. It’s great! I listen to it when I work out, when I’m at work, and even when I’m on long road trips. I find myself engaging in their conversations in my head or even speaking out loud. I love it so much that I’ve memorized every NPR station from the San Francisco Bay Area to San Diego (I take a lot of trips to see family and friends from college).

I’m not sure how many other 24-year-olds listen to this station. I’d highly recommend it to anyone. Upon typing this, I’m listening to it now!
